Delaire Graff Chenin Blanc is Jancis Robinson's Wine of the week

"The bone-dry wine could hardly have more character and I would expect it to continue to improve for the rest of this decade. I wrote: 'Dense, savoury, meaty fruit with real confidence. Nothing pretty and honeyed about this – it's a mensch! Firm spine. Hint of pine even. Really interesting' and gave it a score of 17 out of 20. Yet despite all this personality – nay, virility – it is just 13.5% alcohol."

Gaja releases ‘super cuvée’

"Angelo Gaja has declassified his single vineyard Barbaresco wines for the 2012 vintage and blended them together in a “super cuvee” instead.

Blending together the wines from the three plots of Sori San Lorenzo, Sori Tildin and Costa Russi from which the single vineyard wines are usually produced he has nonetheless created what his UK agent, Armit, has called: “one of the must buys of the vintage.” "

Tinto Negro 1955

22 top Mendoza Malbecs - 93 points for TintoNegro 1955 Vineyard 2012

“This Malbec comes from an old vineyard in La Consulta, in the heart of Uco Valley. Violets, lavender and lots of seductive red fruit flavours. Its a enjoyable wine, easy to drink now, but also with many layers that will develop in time.
Drink 2015-2020. Alc 14% “

Querciabella, Batàr 2012 is Wine Pages' Wine of the MonthBatar

“Labelled as a Toscana IGT (so a white 'Super-Tuscan' in effect), Querciabella's homage to Bâtard-Montrachet has always been one of Italy's best white wines. It's expensive, but each time I have tasted it, it has never failed to impress. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, it is fermented and aged in French barriques, 30% of which are new. It has a haunting, beautiful fragrance, all the floral charm and subtle oatmeal richness, refined and agile mineral balance and such a flood of peachy fruit on the palate. Immensely fresh, but with almond, subtle honey, and terrific balancing acidity. Delicious, complex and understated, this is indeed a great white wine."
