"Minervois is part of that huge swath of sun-baked vineyards, Languedoc-Roussillon. It’s inland from the Med at Narbonne, just east of the extraordinary medieval fortress city of Carcassonne, and it’s stony, hot and dry in summer. Think wild, herby scrubland, rocky outcrops and some windy, high-altitude spots. You’re not that near the sea, but Minervois feels fully “southern”." Susy Atkins, Telegraph, 29 March 2014 |

Quinta da Falorca White 2012 receives 91 points from Parker The 2012 Encruzado Quinta da Falorca was aged in tank, but for 10% of the production run aged in new barriques for six months. It was sourced from the winery’s Vale das Escadinhas. Beautifully made, with a viscous feel on opening and a hint of wood in the background, this is fresh and tasty, with precision and focus. It has reasonable depth, but retains its elegance as well. It should drink beautifully right now, but continue to hold nicely in the cellar for a few years as well. There were just 2,666 bottles made. Drink now-2019. If you’re looking for these, remember that the winery is colloquially known as Falorca, after the Quinta, although the actual producer name is a bit different. Of late, QVE is going from strength-to-strength and looking better all the time. Note, though, that the winery believes in structure. These tend not to be simple porch sippers. Even with late releases (the 2008, for instance, is a current submission), they need some air and food. Mark Squires, 91 Points Drink 2014 - 2019 |
