Head of Marketing
After realising that he wasn't going to make it as a professional footballer, Jon decided to enrol at University on a business studies degree and soon developed an interest in marketing – which was cemented by his Industrial Placement at BMW’s UK Headquarters. After taking a year out to travel, his formative career was spent in the leisure industry, working for a cruise and then golf holiday company. Jon rather stumbled into the wine industry by applying for a marketing role advertised at Berry Bros. & Rudd which sounded interesting and it wasn’t until he was shortlisted for second interview that he really began to appreciate just what a vibrant and exciting industry he was about to join. Jon spent eight years at Berry Bros. & Rudd before joining Armit Wines in early 2017. During the course of his career he has been fortunate enough to have visited wineries around Europe and tasted numerous leading wines, so it is maybe a little surprising that his preferences are a bit limited! Everything from Burgundy (but in particular Chambolle-Musigny and Chassagne-Montrachet), Cru Classé red Bordeaux, Riesling from Germany and Pinot Gris from Alsace. Jon is expanding his tastes however, and starting to develop a passion for the beautiful Nebbiolo's of Piedmont, Chenin Blancs from everywhere and even Sherry - to the delight of his friends in the trade. Jon is a keen follower of all sports, but especially enjoys watching cricket and rugby, playing golf and generally following the football online every day - especially now Brighton & Hove Albion are in the Premier League.
Marketing Manager & Brand Ambassador
Despite studying history at university, Alex’s library was the wine bars of Newcastle, and graduation saw her beating a hasty retreat to the vineyards of South Africa. Three years later she returned to her UK roots with a bad South African accent, a half decent tan and a deeply engrained love of the vineyards. Since those carefree cellar rat days she has been immersed in the London trade while diligently studying for the MW. When not working (tasting wine) or studying (tasting wine) she is generally found weight lifting (don’t laugh), skiing, horse riding, travelling or writing. She was as surprised as she was delighted that one piece she wrote resulted in her being named Young Wine Writer of the Year in 2012.
Digital Marketing Executive
Karishma began her journey here at Armit Wines in September 2017. Having road-tripped America and spent over a year working in marketing in the Big Apple, she returned to London thirsty for a more refined fruit. Karishma has a background in theatre and radio, and her flair for the musical also translates onto her tastebuds.
With a taste for the finer things in life, bubbles are high on Karishma’s priority list. You can find her on a Friday night trying out new cuisine's at one of London's many eateries, or at an all-you-can-drink Prosecco soiree sipping the bar dry… all in the name of research of course.
