Premier Cru White Releases: Burgundy En Primeur 2019

Hot on the heels of our 1er Cru reds, Armit Wines is excited to offer a curated selection of 1er Cru whites from the Côte de Beaune and Chablis.

The 2019 vintage saw the rise of the cooler sites and villages, so if you like your white Burgundy lithe and precise, you might want to orientate your buying towards the villages of Ladoix, St Aubin, Blagny and Savigny-lès-Beaune.

Classic villages such as Meursault, Chassagne and Puligny have in general delivered a more generous and solid style – ripe, rich and creamy – comparable to 2012.

We are receiving strong demand across appellations – from the humble Bourgogne wines to Grand Cru – and we strongly recommend getting your orders in swiftly.

Of course, if you wish to discuss any wine in particular, or would like further guidance, then please do not hesitate to contact the Private Client Team. We look forward to hearing from you!

Stay tuned for our complete Burgundy 2019 brochure and Grand Cru releases next week.

Sabine's wines at Marc Morey excelled in 2019. Neal Martin: "a well defined and energetic bouquet with plenty of yellow plum, red apple, touches of hazelnut and light orange blossom aromas. Like the domaine’s other 2019s, this is so pretty. The palate is very well balanced with orange rind and quince on the entry. Focused and almost "lilting" in quality, it gently fans out towards the finish. This is going to be very seductive."

With a potential 94 Points, Neal Martin says: "Good intensity on the nose, a little more malic than the Chenevottes with a palpable Puligny-like steeliness. The palate is well balanced with impressive weight, good acidity and a welcome dab of lemongrass and ginger enlivens the finish. This has great potential."

Another potential 94 Points, Neal Martin writes: "one of the domaine’s strongest cuvées... This is backward and a little broody at first, yet it is beautifully defined with its mineralité already tangible, those shallow soils on limestone can almost be smelled! The palate is very well balanced and packed full of energy, touches of sour lemon and orange rind, full of tension with a persistent finish. Just a fantastic Chassagne."

Neal Martin: "just a very small reduction on the nose, although it is clear there is plenty of green apple, pear and flinty notes underneath. The palate is much more expressive with Limoncello on the entry, traces of dried orange peel and stem ginger, fanning out with confidence towards the finish. This is a classy Les Pucelles."

From 1 ha. Neal Martin: "a generous bouquet, the 10% new oak lends a little more intensity. The palate is lovely, orange pith and touches of mandarin, very harmonious with just the right amount of bitterness on the finish. Very fine."

A super value offering from Mallard, the winemaking at d'Eugenie. Neal Martin writes: "orange zest and light peachy notes, and saline in the mouth. A tang of pink grapefruit appears on the finish."

Neal Martin: "an austere, granitic bouquet that demands coaxing from the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine edginess on the entry, concentrated with good density, notes of tangy marmalade and spices coming through on the expressive finish. This is a lovely La Garenne that should age with style."

Neal Martin: "lilting aromas of apple blossom, granite and citrus peel on the nose, nicely focused and very pure in style… There is more Puligny DNA here and good potential for aging."
