“Italy’s most important wine… its status is legendary”
Monica Larner, eRobertParker.com
Sassicaia has the illustrious, and historic, privilege of being the first wine to be granted its own DOC and lit the fuse on what is now the infamous ‘Super-Tuscan’ tradition. From this foundation it has continued to thrust forward and has become one of the most sought after wines by connoisseurs and collectors around the world alike.
Located in close proximity to the Tuscan coast, in Bolgheri, it has remained in the hands of the Incisa family for over two hundred years. Sassicaia took influence from Bordeaux in its use of Cabernet and the stony soils it shares with its French counterpart. With what are today some fairly ancient vines – having first planted Cabernet Sauvignon in 1940 - the house has constantly evolved and improved, earning its place in the topmost echelon of the vinous world.
Sassicaia stands out amongst its peers for its sense of all-encompassing harmony and balance. It is nuanced, seductive and effortlessly elegant. A wine that is at once powerful and refined, with untold complexity all the while retaining a vitality and freshness at its core. This deserves a place in the cellars, homes and glasses of all serious collectors, thoughtful drinkers and imbibers.
Much like many of the super seconds in Bordeaux, Guidalberto offers a glimpse into the grandeur of the Grand Vin and we have a selection of vintages below that will offer enjoyment and lasting pleasure over the years to come.
