FRANCE

A country like no other is synonymous with fine wine. France is a dazzling collection of terroirs, styles and price points. Too many to mention, France is home to some of the most recognisable and loved wine regions in the world. Having defined and helped shape some of the finest wine regions in the world, it is undeniable that France’s influence extends far beyond its regional boundaries. While classic regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy or Champagne, amongst others, continue to be the standard-bearer of fine wine production, the country is also rediscovering some of its lesser-known regions. The recent success of Provence, the Loire or the South West, testifies to the diversity, richness and heritage of winemaking in France.

2016 Volnay 1er Cru les Brouillards

Domaine de Montille

In Stock

Bottle 75cl £80.68

Case of 6 £484.08

TASTING NOTES

Hailing from just north of Mitans, the wine has 1/3 whole cluster from 30-35 year old vines.  The fruit is on the darker end of the spectrum showing blackberry and cassis.  In the mouth, it is a muscular Volnay with plenty of substance.  Very fine tannins, this will just need a bit of time, drink from 2023.Armit Wines

TASTING NOTES

Attractive lemon and stone fruit aromas with elegant, refreshing gooseberry and lime fruit flavours. Still quite restrained and discreet but there is a wonderful persistence of flavour and a mouthwatering acidity which gives lift and definition. This wine has great potential and will age superbly over the next decade. Drink 2015 - 2025

TASTING NOTES

This is a calm, focused wine with its bouquet already well-formed around an interplay of flowers, white nuts and soft green pear fruit. Focused and well defined, there is an elegant breeziness to its movement on the palate and then a finish defined by its minerality that reminds you of its origins. There is no drama here, just a sense...

TASTING NOTES

Black cherry, mint and cassis notes on the nose with a lick of cream, there is a simple, natural feel to this wine before its slips into a higher gear on mid-palate, driving through to a fine finish. Charming and impressive at the same time.

TASTING NOTES

A concentrated but restrained nose with subtle red cherry and ethereal smoky, floral notes, leads to a palate of ripe, concentrated smoky black and red cherries and juicy strawberry and raspberry fruit.  The spicy palate is enhanced by lovely chewy tannins and a firm, powerful mineral length. Very impressive indeed. Drink from 2023.Armit Wines
