Even though the first grapes were pressed in the country in 1659, South Africa has always been regarded as a New World wine-producing region. After decades of turbulence, the wine scene has found a new, confident voice and the country is now the source of incredibly exciting, unique wines. Terroir, old vines and a push towards sustainability and inclusion seem to be at the very core of South African wine production. From historical names to a plethora of uber-skilled new winemakers, South African wines reputation and standing is going from strength to strength.
