Dazzling, volcanic wines from Mount Etna’s Pietradolce
“Pietradolce boasts some of the most beautiful vineyards I have ever seen.
I cannot exaggerate this point”
We are delighted to offer the latest vintages from Sicily’s Pietradolce: crisp whites, a favourite rose and some award-winning Etna Rossos.
Located on the northern side of Mount Etna, Pietradolce’s steep, terraced vineyards and dark stony, volcanic soils are home to indigenous pre-phylloxera knotted bush vines. Some of these are over 100 years old and create mesmerising wines.
The delicious, crisp and racy white wines are made from Carricante that are teeming with minerals and salty energy, while the fantastic local Nerello Mascalese (the “Nebbiolo of the south”) makes superb, classy red wines.
Pietradolce is no longer a secret of Sicily or indeed Italy; it has been highly praised by international critics.
