Birgit Eichinger produces beautifully elegant, aromatic and fruit driven Riesling and Grüner Veltliner wines from Austria. Weingut Eichinger, at the foot of the Gaisberg mountain in the Kamptal region, was established in 1992. Birgit’s reputation as a talented winemaker has grown ever since. She has become a mentor to many young winemakers and is a member of the eminent‚ Österreichische Traditionsweingüter, a union of Austria’s best wineries which created the first catalogue of top vineyard sites. Her vines are located in some of the finest vineyards in the area including Gaisberg, Heiligenstein and Lamm.
We are very pleased to present the newest release of her wines from the 2017 vintage. Despite late frosts and hailstorms, and warmer than average temperatures in the summer, it was a trouble-free year generally with cool temperatures at harvest time. Quality is very good, especially in the best areas. Eichinger’s 2017s are richer and deeper than the previous vintage whilst retaining an attractive and refreshing minerality which is the hallmark of this great estate. It was a "wonderful" vintage, according to Birgit, and the wines have "beautiful fruit aromas and freshness with lots of complexity."
