Armit Wines at the London Wine Trade Fair

We are excited to be exhibiting at the London wine trade fair again this year and we intend to show the diversity of our portfolio with wines from Hungary and cool climate California to classic Italy and Spain, plus everything in between. Last year we attracted a lot of attention due to the competitions that we ran, so this year we have decided to make them even more interactive and fun and the prizes are even better too.

At 3pm on each day of the fair, we will be hosting the following events and we hope you will come along, get involved in the excitement and taste some great wines. You might even be one of our lucky winners…

Day 1 (Monday 22nd May)– 3pm - Growers Champagne – Geoffroy and Gimonnet

Enjoy a guided tasting of Geoffroy and Gimonnet Champagne, taking the chance to learn how they differ in terms of soil, climate and winemaking. To follow, there will be a blind tasting of just one of the Champagnes and all you need to do is decide whether you think it is Champagne Geoffroy or Gimonnet! All those who correctly identify the Champagne will be entered into a prize draw with the winner announced and publicised on twitter that afternoon. The prize is a day trip to Champagne on the 18th or 19th July 2017  to visit both of the producers.

Day 2 (Tuesday 23rd May)– 3pm – Flick a Conversion with Astrolabe

Take part in a tutored tasting of the Astrolabe range with Simon Waghorn, winemaker at this leading New Zealand estate, then once you have completed the tasting, you could win a night for two at a Tamburlaine Cambridge hotel (which is hosting an Astrolabe Lions Rugby event this summer, more details to follow soon). To celebrate this year’s Lions tour to New Zealand, we will be staging a penalty kick competition, with a twist. Simply have a go at flicking a mini rugby ball through the miniature posts to score a conversion. Keep going and try to score as many as you can until you miss… and the winner will be the person who manages to score the most consecutive conversions. The victor will be announced on twitter during the afternoon, but our leaderboard will enable you to keep track of where you are placed in the standings.

Day 3 (Wednesday 24th May)- 3pm - Ardanza 75th Anniversary Celebration

Join us to celebrate 75 years of Ardanza by tasting the recently released 2008 Ardanza as well as a collection of older vintages with the winemaker from La Rioja Alta S.A., Julio Sáenz Fernández. After the tasting, enter our Ardanza photo booth experience, dress-up using some of our props, take hold of our Ardanza Jeroboam and have your picture taken in front of our Ardanza 75th Anniversary banner. Everyone who takes part will take home a polaroid of themselves looking very Spanish, as well as being entered into our prize draw to win a Jeroboam of Ardanza 2008. The winner will be announced on twitter during the afternoon.

Lastly, if you have ever wondered what an iconic wine tastes like when it is 30 years old, keep your eye on twitter during the fair as we will be opening a different old vintage at various times thoughout the day.
