Burgundy is an historic and highly respected wine region - a hugely enjoyable hobby to some and total obsession to a few. At Armit Wines, we pride ourselves on falling into the latter category.
This is where the finest expressions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are found. Nowhere else can match the depth of history and tradition that Burgundy has with these two varieties. The magic, in one word, can be summed up as 'nuance'. The grapes are grown over a myriad of vineyards made up from different soil compositions, aspects and gradients. Entirely different terroir is found just a stone's throw away from each other.
The complexity of the topography of Burgundy is mind-boggling and the subtlety found in the wines often requires experience and an unrelenting passion for learning more with each sip. Of course, it is not all about subtle differences. Trends in vineyard care and winemaking philosophies differ all the time and the story of how guardians of great terroir take the fruit bestowed upon them to create unique and distinguished wines is equally important.
