Domaine Roulot sets the gold standard for Meursault. In an appellation which was synonymous with Chardonnay of richness and opulence, Jean-Marc's wines offer instead a profound sense of focus, restraint and purity.
These are nervy and unreservedly unique wines which favour freshness and minerality without losing their sumptuous appeal. The task at hand, where many fail, is to satisfy opposite ends of the spectrum without sacrificing the qualities of either. As a result Jean Marc's wine cannot be found or obtained easily. There is a great clamour for these wines upon release which makes them some of the most keenly fought over each year when we try to share out the new vintage.
Jean-Marc Roulot is considered to be a master of Chardonnay and a superstar of his generation. His bright and chiselled Meursaults are rightly considered amongst the world's finest white wines. The magic of this estate really starts to reveal itself 10 years from release. I encourage a quick and decisive response to avoid disappointment.
