2015 Quinault L’Enclos, St-Émilion

"An extremely fine Quinault L'Enclos that will give a lot of pleasure"
Neal Martin

Since being taken over by Cheval Blanc in 2008 there has been a deliberate move away from the style of old which was one of brooding, dark and intense fruit. It has taken time to implement the changes but today the results have been realised. In 2015 the personality is far more elegant and finessed.

There is less prominent, better integrated oak and a voluptuousness to the wine which lends it real charm. Sultry subtlety is the style and it wears it very well! Priced £100 a case cheaper than the 2005 is currently available this is a wine well worth buying. At £26 duty paid there will be few better value propositions from St-Émilion in 2015. Recommended.

£235 Per 12 Bottles En Primeur

The 2015 Quinault L'Enclos...has a tightly wound, pure bouquet with intriguing graphite and cedar notes infusing the red berry and cassis fruit, perhaps a little Left Bank in style compared to other vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, extremely well defined, a slightly graininess in texture with that graphite element defining the finish. There is great length here, an extremely fine Quinault L'Enclos that will give a lot of pleasure with just 4-5 years in bottle. Drink 2020 – 2040
Neal Martin, 91-93/100

The 2015 Quinault L'Enclos is absolutely delicious. Bright, floral and nuanced, the 2015 shows off lovely class throughout. The expressive aromatics and underlying salinity are both deeply suggestive of Cabernet Franc, even though Franc is just 12% of the blend. The 2015 is a super-sexy Saint-Émilion that will drink well with minimal cellaring. This is pure finesse.
Antonio Galloni, 89-92/100

A very soft and creamy wine. The 2015 has a nice bouquet and an expressive nose. Fresh red berries and blackcurrant on the palate with a touch of saltiness cut by a vibrant acidity . Tannins are supple and the finish is long and define. A lot of personality.
