‘A seamless, mind-blowing wine, the Ausone [2015] boasts extraordinary purity and finesse.’
Antonio Galloni
The final major piece of the St-Émilion puzzle has fallen into place this afternoon – fitting nicely alongside Cheval-Blanc’s earlier release – we have Château Ausone. At the pinnacle of what the commune has to offer this is a wine to be enthused by. In Jancis’ review she highlights the wine’s ‘Real class and concentration’ that has become such a hallmark of this wine. The Château’s long and illustrious history is well documented.
It has, however, hit new heights since Paul Vauthier took the helm, without external influence, in 1997. He has since made systematic improvements across the estate transposing his vision for perfection upon the property. The terroirs limestone lends the wine a mineral driven edge that is quite remarkable in a red wine which melds this with concentrated, yet weightless, fruit. It is this contradictory but harmonious aspect which the wine possesses that is most beguiling. The 2015 rings true to this formula with characteristic charisma and charm. A wine for the ages. A legend in the making.
Due to the extremely limited quantities available we shall confirm orders as soon as we are able.
