Bodegas Costers del Sio image

Bodegas Costers del Sio belongs to the Porcioles-Buixó family and is located in the Noguera region, as part of the Costers del Segre D.O. With humble roots as a country farm there is an extension of 700 ha, of which 71 are devoted solely to wine growing.

Huge efforts are put into the study and understanding of vine growth and behaviour in order to create and maintain the highest level of grape quality. They follow the wisdom of Juan Porcioles in that “a great wine starts in the vineyard and we need to take good care of it”.

soil, shallow land rich in loam and mud and an altitude of 310 metres there is a strong continental influence in the wines, sealed by the Mediterranean weather. After picking the grapes undergo a rigorous selection process where those deemed inadequate on the selection table are thrown away. By working individually with each grape entry the highest standards are maintained to ensure the best of each wine.

Within the vineyards a wide range of grapes are grown including Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and sauvignon Blanc. New varieties are created with the aim of producing varieties of future wines.
