CHÂTEAU PÉTRUS

The jewel of Pomerol is undoubtedly Château Pétrus which, following the death of Jean-Pierre Moueix in 2003, is now run by his elder son Jean-François. The estate makes approximately 30,000 bottles a year and has had a stellar rise. Virtually unknown 50 years ago this wine now commands some of the highest prices in the wine buying world. In Pomerol, there is no classification but the small area and distinctive terroir is what sets it apart from its neighbours and promotes its status as being one of the rarest and most expensive wines in the world.
