Our PortfolioDomaine Michel Lafarge

Founded in 2014 by Frédéric and Chantal Lafarge, husband and wife at the iconic Burgundy estate Domaine Lafarge in Volnay, the domaine is located in Fleurie and has a total surface of around 4 hectares. Biodynamic farming, no use of new oak and the same quest of purity and reflection of terroir apply for their Beaujolais project. The vineyard is immaculate and include slope and old vines, a spectrum of different soils from pink granite to blue stone give identity to the different parcels. In true Burgundian style, there is no use of carbonic maceration in the estate.

Tasting Notes

"The 2021 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain L'Exceptionne, from a complanté plot of Pinot Noir and Gamay (50/50), has a lovely bouquet with cassis, wild strawberry fruit and hints of blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy citrus notes, tart cherries, blueberry and a touch of pain d'épice on the finish. Delicious." Neal Martin, Vinous

Bottle shot of 2022 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain L'Exception
Tasting Notes

"The 2022 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain L'Exceptionne is Gamay and Pinot Noir picked together from 94-year-old vines planted by Clothilde Lafarge's great-grandfather. It has wonderful transparency on the nose: red cherries mixed with raspberry. The palate leans more towards the Pinot Noir, with fine delineation, gentle grip and ample tension on the finish. A strong follow-up to the excellent 2021." Neal Martin,...

Bottle shot of 2020 Côte de Brouilly
Tasting Notes

"The 2020 Côte de Brouilly comes from blue granite soils and de-stemmed by hand. It has ample fruit on the nose: blackberry, blueberry and light violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, lightly spiced, perhaps the most Pinot-like of Lafarge’s Bojos with a very persistent, structured finish. Excellent." 92, Neal Martin, Vinous

Bottle shot of 2020 Fleurie
Tasting Notes

"The 2020 Fleurie, which comes from two parcels on pink granite soil, includes 30% whole bunch. The nose is quite backward and required some coaxing from the glass. The palate is more open at the moment, quite intense with supple tannins, tart red fruit laced with white pepper on the finish." Neal Martin, Vinous

Bottle shot of 2022 Beaune Blanc 1er Cru Aigrots
Tasting Notes

"Mid lemon yellow. An attractive, balanced bouquet showing that this part at least of Aigrots is white wine territory. There is plenty of flesh on the bones but it retains a compact assuredness, good acidity, lightly saline and persistent." 91-93 points, Jasper Morris

Bottle shot of 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Aigrots
Tasting Notes

"2022, Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru, Domaine Michel Lafarge Medium deep crimson. A fresh pinot nose, not too intense. A mid to dark raspberry fruit on the palate albeit with a certain crispness, a little wood at the back, but a complete and once again harmonious – my Lafarge word for the vintage – finish. Drink from 2030-2037." 91-93...
