TASTING NOTES

Their vineyard doesn’t get as much afternoon sun as some others which helps their Corton Charlemagne retain more freshness.  The nose conveys concentrated white fruit hidden by that fresh acidity.  Really lovely in the mouth, lots of “matiere” combined with perfectly ripened fruit, great balance and length.  Drink from 2022.Armit Wines

TASTING NOTES

A lot of fresh red fruit on the nose, noteworthy complexity.  This wine fills the mouth with layers of fruit and freshening acidity and I was tempted not to spit.  Very pure fruit, very good length with just a hint of rusticity.  Drink from 2023.Armit Wines

TASTING NOTES

Situated at the bottom of the hill with a south east aspect, this wine always ripens well yet hangs onto its freshness. A delicious combination. The nose has a sense of alluring depth and darkness, hauntingly so, and is quite expansive with mineral notes shining through – ensuring the wine retains a moreish crunch of crispness. For something so muscular...

TASTING NOTES

Up on the rocky slopes above Genevrières is this excellent vineyard where the Domaine has just under a quarter of a hectare. This is a perfect choice for those wary of the potential of heavy whites in 2009 as Alix has made an energetic, vibrant wine with citric fruits and firm pear-scented flesh and a floral overtone.

Domaine de Montille is one of Burgundy’s greatest estates. The wines are made for ageing but in recent years, since Hubert’s son Etienne has taken over, the domaine has moved towards expressing greater aromatic potential in the wines. Recent purchases at the domaine have increased the number of wines which make for a serious and detailed overview of the region.

The Domaine has moved progressively towards organic and now biodynamic methods working in closer harmony with nature. The approach in the cellar remains traditional though in the last few years, since Hubert’s son Étienne took over the reins, there has been a focus on bringing greater aromatic expression to the red wines. The wines still benefit from ageing and develop an abundance of complexity as they mature.

In recent years, purchases in Beaune, Corton and the Côte de Nuits have significantly extended the vineyard holdings.
