(Lachaux purchased just over a half-hectare of 53-year-old vines from Christopher Newman) Good medium red. Nose offers dark cherry, smoky oak and complex soil tones. At once dense and energetic, conveying an impression of rather strong energy from the combination of firm acids and underlying minerality. In a cooler, almost peppery style, with the wine's acidity carrying the finish. More austere than most of Lachaux's wines from Vosne-Romanee.

Tasting Notes

There is considerable excitement at the début of this wine and on first taste, it became abundantly clear why Florence and Pascal have added this parcel to the Domaine. The nose is of wild fruit, with juicy animal notes in a fascinating mélange of aromas but also with a lighter perfume and ethereal side. On the palate, there is more finesse to the textures and a greater flesh than seen with the Clos Vougeot or the Echézeaux. As you work the wine, there is jaw-dropping depth and a real sense of wonder. We can¿t wait to watch this one grow ¿ an exceptionally impressive début. Drink from 2015.
