Named after the gentle traditional method of extraction used to produce it, the Lagar method relies on gentle crushing of the grapes with peoples feet. The pips are not broken and the skins are gently pressed ensuring that not too much tannin is extracted. That being said this is powerful, dense and concentrated; a wine of real class. Intense flavours of dark brambly fruit are complimented by a still robust structure and smoky, charred hints. One can see why it was awarded 92 Parker Points. This is the perfect steak or BBQ wine. Drinking now but will be fully integrated 2015 onwards.
Reviews & Scores
The 2009 Reserva Quinta da Falorca Lagar may be a notable step up on the 2004.. it is powerful, dense, ripe and bursting with flavor. Unevolved, with some considerable hits of tannin here and there, it has a touch of char and smoke, but it generally seems like a winner for Falorca .. Drink 2015-2025.
