Scores

2010 Capbern Gasqueton: Composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, this is one of the Gasqueton family¿s finest efforts to date (although the 2009 was also very good). The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2010 exhibits plenty of delicious red and blackberry fruit, medium body and more size and substance than most past vintages. It should drink well for a decade or more. Robert Parker

Tasting Notes

Very bright red currant fruit aromas with lots of hidden depth. The palate is medium bodied and tightly structured with a core of attractive, sweet fruit, and a refreshing, energetic acidity. A mineral dimension on the finish, with hints of tobacco, are a promising sign of things to come. A classic style, it will be delicious in a few years. Drink 2014 ¿ 2022

ProducerChâteau Calon Segur

Château Calon Segur from the Saint-Estèphe appellation in Bordeaux is one of the fourteen classified third growths in the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. It is one of the original three vineyards in Saint-Estèphe and is a historic estate once housing the famous Château Montrose in 1825. It is also the northernmost classified growth in the Médoc. The estate has been owned by the Capbern Gasqueton family since 1894. The wines of Château Calon Segur have been cited of falling between Cos d’Estournel and Montrose in style, being long-lived without aggression. See More
