Tasting Notes

Arguably the finest expression of Chianti Classico we’ve ever tasted from the estate. This is a ripe yet elegant vintage with an attractive, fleshy concentration and sweet-scented fruit, creating a more seductive textured Chianti than the excellent 2010. This depth is lifted by crunchy cherry acidity; tell-tale Sangiovese spice and a streak of grippy minerality add layers of complexity to what is a very complete wine. Drinking very well now but will mature beautifully over the next 5 years.

Reviews & Scores

The 2011 Chianti Classico Querciabella has that extra bit of depth, creaminess and mid-palate pliancy missing in the 2010, all while maintaining plenty of brightness, freshness and Sangiovese character. Freshly cut roses, sweet red berries and a hint of spices are woven into the exceptionally elegant, refined finish. Simply put, this is a striking wine from Querciabella.

Intense aromas of blackberries and black cherries with a note of chocolate and spice. Velvety smooth on the palate with rich black fruit flavours, some notes of coffee and a touch of black pepper. Good chewy tannins to balance and lingering black fruit flavours on the finish.

TASTING NOTES

Modern but restrained fruit with a tremendous floral scent, dark chocolate and leather. Manages to tame the wild tannins of Nebbiolo, giving a fine abrasion on the palate and bright acidity. Remarkably delicate structure, and very much drinkable now.

TASTING NOTES

An harmonious blend of 93% Merlot with 7% Cabernet Franc, this is a very attractive, medium to full bodied wine with ripe plum aromas mingled with sweet wild herbs and hint of lavender. Refreshing red plum flavours, with darker forest fruit notes developing as the wine evolves, are balanced by a lively freshness and a fine mineral quality which runs...
