Tasting Notes
This rocky, east-facing vineyard was formerly a lavender farm, although now only a few rows remain next to the young syrah vines. Although in a warm area, the Richards Family Vineyards proximity to the Sonoma Mountains gives it a much cooler climate than its AVA would suggest. The vines here are younger than the other vineyards, but it has already produced a number of distinctive and critically acclaimed wines.
Reviews & Scores
The 2011 Syrah Richards Family is a powerful, rich wine that spent 36 months in wood. It boasts lots of blackberry, black currant, licorice, forest floor and truffle-like notes. Opulent and full-bodied, it is an incredible success for this challenging vintage. Consume it over the next decade.
