Tasting Notes

A blend of vineyards in Sonoma, Mendocino and Russian River give a wine of freshness, the Donelan’s policy of ensuring early water stress is designed to enhance the final wines texture rather than concentration. 30% whole clusters are used, bringing some crunch and tension to the melange of red and black fruits, while native yeast fermentation gives complexity and depth. The Two Brothers 2012 is a great, soulful expression of Californian Pinot Noir.

Reviews & Scores

The 2012 Pinot Noir Two Brothers was made from six separate clonal selections, including Dijon clones 115, 667 and 777, and the Pommard, Calera and Swan clones. Some stems were utilized and notes of underbrush/forest floor are undoubtedly attributable to the whole clusters. Abundant aromas of cherry fruit, clove and spice are followed by a medium-bodied Pinot that should drink well for 5-7 years.

TASTING NOTES

A very elegant wine with dark cherry aromas intermingled with dried summer fruits and wild herbs. The vibrant palate has intense bright cherry fruit flavours balanced by seamless tannins and mineral freshness. Complex and refined this wine will be delicious to drink over the next few years but will age well for at least a decade. Drink from 2019.Armit Wines
