Reviews & Scores

The 2012 Encruzado Quinta da Falorca was aged in tank, but for 10% of the production run aged in new barriques for six months. It was sourced from the winery’s Vale das Escadinhas. Beautifully made, with a viscous feel on opening and a hint of wood in the background, this is fresh and tasty, with precision and focus. It has reasonable depth, but retains its elegance as well. It should drink beautifully right now, but continue to hold nicely in the cellar for a few years as well. There were just 2,666 bottles made. Drink now-2019.

TASTING NOTES

The Bourgogne Blanc, which had completed its malo by springtime, is already in bottle and offers good fruit weight and mid-palate density but plenty of freshness too. The nose is pure and floral and the wine bounds along energetically, with a crisp, well-defined finish suggesting versatility, equally at home on its own as with simple foods. Drink from 2014.

TASTING NOTES

A blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat giving a fresh and aromatic wine with plenty of citrus flavours and peachy, floral hints. The Chardonnay gives a great rounded, creamy texture which lends the wine to pairing with creamy cheese.
