Catarratto is one of Sicily's indigenous varieties and one we almost never see on these shores. The brilliant Rallo is one producer championing this variety and really demonstrating what can be achieved when yields are restricted and it receives the attention it deserves. A wine with precise, linear acidity and a beautifully textured mouthfeel, this is all about fresh citrus flavours, a touch of white flowers and bracing, mouth-watering acidity. The saline minerality and layers of flavour are testament to the quality of the grapes and the winemaking but it is Catarratto's natural citrusy charm which is the standout here. This is crying out for seafood, ideally by the sea!
