Tasting Notes

Catarratto is one of Sicily's indigenous varieties and one we almost never see on these shores. The brilliant Rallo is one producer championing this variety and really demonstrating what can be achieved when yields are restricted and it receives the attention it deserves. A wine with precise, linear acidity and a beautifully textured mouthfeel, this is all about fresh citrus flavours, a touch of white flowers and bracing, mouth-watering acidity. The saline minerality and layers of flavour are testament to the quality of the grapes and the winemaking but it is Catarratto's natural citrusy charm which is the standout here. This is crying out for seafood, ideally by the sea!

Reviews & Scores

Beleda 2013 is a selection of the best Catarratto grapes cultivated in the plots of Patti Piccolo. The grapes, organically grown in a certified BIOSUISSE organic agriculture, produce a well-balanced and mineral
wine with significantly fruity and balsamic notes.

For the second consecutive year, Rallo gets, always on a white wine, the highest honor awarded by one of the most authoritative Italian
guides, rightfully entering among the companies that represent the excellence of Italian wine in the world.

Image of wine Chianti Classico

Arguably the finest expression of Chianti Classico we’ve ever tasted from the estate. This is a ripe yet elegant vintage with an attractive, fleshy concentration and sweet-scented fruit. This depth is lifted by crunchy cherry acidity; tell-tale Sangiovese spice and a streak of grippy minerality add layers of complexity to what is a very complete wine. Drinking very well now...

Image of wine Barolo

Immediately enjoyable, with a wonderful bouquet of red fruit, floral notes and just a hint of meaty savouriness. The palate is lively and fresh, with silky tannins and just enough acidity to give it a nice little kick at the end. This is the perfect introduction to the house style – elegant, understated and yet full of character. Armit Wines
