Mon Rouge is a blend of three grapes in which each component lends varietal character to a whole that is more than the sum of its parts. Merlot?s intense fruit is set off by the tannic extract of Cabernet and signs off with all the depth of a Refosco-led back palate. Invitingly soft tannins are beautifully complemented by approachability as the territory-true sensory profile lays out berry fruits on the nose and delicate spice on the palate. Plush-textured, fresh-tasting and easy to drink. Magnificent with piquant and moderately mature cheeses, white meats and baked fish. Excellent with Brodetto alla Gradese (Grado-style fish stew). A palate-stimulating aperitif served with cured meats and cold cuts. Winemaker

ProducerCastello di Buttrio

In Friuli’s Colli Orientali, Alessandra Felluga produces wines which proudly showcase the Veneto wine region of north-eastern Italy. Characterised by intense fruit and acidity, thanks to low yields, and minerality from the rich soil, Castello di Buttrio wines are best known for their single-variety bottlings of indigenous grapes - white Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, red Refosco and Pignolo. However, it also produces excellent Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as growing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, for use in the red of the two blends.
