Tasting Notes

Not your ordinary Sauvignon Blanc there is real verve to this wine. Tiefenbrunner?s motto is Origin of Quality and Character and this is epitomised here. 50% is briefly aged in oak adding very subtle body, spice and a beautiful fragrant lift. This is a wonderful take on the fresh, clean and crisp Loire Sauvignon Blanc, with plenty of gooseberry, lemongrass, sage and flintstone on the nose but there is also a floral hit of elderflower and white blossom. On the palate there is lovely texture and richness with added aromas of white peach to the already complex and layered notes of ripe lime, green apple, gooseberry and wet grass. All this is lifted by bracing acidity and linear minerality which provide intensity and tension. This is the ultimate Sauvignon Blanc that will work so well with salads, sushi, shellfish... anything summery really!

ProducerTiefenbrunner

One of the oldest estates in Trentino Alto Adige, Tiefenbrunner Schlosskellerei Turmhof has a history of high-quality winemaking dating back to the mid-19th century. Before the end of the 2nd World War, Herbert Tiefenbrunner started work as a winemaker when he was only 15 years of age. Along with his wife, they took over the winery in 2000 with a commitment to continue in the centuries-old tradition of Tiefenbrunner wine-making culture. His philosophy is crafting wines with a distinctive personality, to outlast fashion ad trends. The result is a vibrant, expressive range that concentrates on single varietal, mountain fruit.
