Pinot noir, Cork, Drinking 2017
Utterly mesmeric, this wine captured my heart from the very first. It is made by a man who is not tramping the well-trodden road of Californian Pinot. He seeks out unique, high altitude vineyards and from them sculpts passionately perfumed, exuberant and compelling wines.

A vivid mid-ruby, dried rose petal and balsamic scented reserva, still showing vibrant raspberry fruit and fresh acid. Chocolate-coated cherry character with hints of vanilla, but in a far more restrained way than in classic Rioja wines. Superb structure with ripe, fine-grained tannins and a tar-like grip towards the end of the long finish. Armit Winesmore
