Scores

This is a fresher, more delicate style of Punica white with melon, honeysuckle and pear character plus hints of mineral. Medium to full body, fruity and fresh. A real beach wine. No wonder it comes from the sea-sprayed vineyards of the island of Sardinia. A blend of mostly vermentino with some chardonnay. Screw cap. Drink now.
91 Points, James Suckling

Floral and spice notes lace this light-bodied and bright white, along with hints of Meyer lemon, melon and grapefruit zest. Vermentino and Chardonnay. Drink now. 2,500 cases made.
86 Points, Wine Spectator

Tasting Notes

Incredibly fresh and zesty this is going to make perfect summer drinking. Refreshing acidity with concentrated pear, apple and apricot flavours. Whilst primarily about crisp fruit characters there is a touch of minerality and almost waxy texture here. A blend of 80% Vermentino and 20% Chardonnay, this will provide extremely enjoyable drinking for the next year.

ProducerAgricola Punica

Agricola Punica is based in the rugged hills of southern Sardinia. The project was created as a collaboration between the Sardinian Santadi family; Dr Giacomo Tachis, the oenologist considered the architect of the Super-Tuscan movement; and Marquis Incisa Della Rocchetta, winemaker of Sassicaia. In the words of Antonio Galloni: “how’s that for an all-star team?” The purple capsule and round logo of Barrua is a subtle nod to these illustrious origins, while the name Agricola Punica references the ancient Punic civilisation – whose ruins are found across Sardinia.
