Scores

The 2015 Grand Village is a soft, open-knit wine to drink young, while the fruit retains its juiciness and attractive floral freshness. Raspberry, sweet red cherry and sweet floral notes grace this attractive, mid-weight red. The 2015 is a very pretty, precise wine with almost Pinot-like inflections.
88-90 Points, Antonio Galloni

Tasting Notes

85% Merlot/15% Cabernet Franc. First impressions are focused on fresh fruit, a lovely nose of red and black berries that still retain a certain crunchiness. On the palate, there is remarkable precision as well as a creamy texture, a charming combination. The ripe Merlot marries beautifully with the more alert Cabernet Franc and it’s the quality of the tannins that really mark out the success of the vintage. There is impressive structure and energy and on the finish, the wine showing excellent balance. This is certain to age well despite being delicious already. Best ever? drink 2018-2025+.

ProducerChâteau Grand Village

Le Grand Village is the original Bordeaux home of the Guinaudeau family, better known as the producers of Château Lafleur in Pomerol. The same team and equal level of detailed attention are dedicated to winemaking in this château in Fronsac on the Right Bank. This results in a red (Merlot/Cabernet Franc) and a white (Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon) wine which far outstrip their nominal Bordeaux Supérieur status, creating some of the most exciting releases in the appellation. If one wants to glimpse into the Guinaudeau’s savoir-faire, then Grand Village is an unmissable addition to any cellar.
