RS 84 g/l. Crystallised citrus and floral scent, preserved lemon fruit on the palate. Long, sweet finish and there isn't quite as much flavour complexity here as on the 'basic' Clos du Bourg Moelleux – but it will doubtless come with age. 12%. Drink 2020-2030

A magical cuvée from this mythical vineyard. Anyone who has stood in the Clos du Bourg can’t fail to be enchanted. This Clos du Bourg 1ere Trie is a stunning creation which combines dried tropical fruit aromas with sweet spice. There is such complexity here with botrytis spice, exotic fruit and stewed rhubarb providing a fullness that is somehow piercingly lean at the same time. The intense sweetness is complemented by an electric acidity and enormous concentration. This wine will live for 40+ years. If ever a wine were to tug at the heart strings, this is it.
