JUMILLA

In the wild north of Spain Jumilla is a DO in the northern part of Murcia, and mostly recognised for its Monastrell production. The wine growing plain is between 350-650 metres above sea level, with mostly poor limestone soils. With very low rainfall throughout the year and hot dry summers and very cold winters this is the perfect place for the local strain of Monastrell, internationally known as Mourvedre, which covers over 80% of the total vineyard area.
