The Stellar 2015 Vintage from Tua Rita

“Best Giusto di Notri ever?”
96-97 points, James Suckling

Italy’s great Tua Rita has produced a stellar set of wines in 2015. It is a vintage heralded by winemaker Luca d’Attoma as "out of this world".

In 1992, when Rita and her husband Virgilio put their first vintage of Giusto di Notri into bottle, they could not have imagined its phenomenal trajectory over the next 25 years. At the time, Tua Rita was just a tiny ‘garage’ winery in the little-known Upper Maremma on the Tuscan coast. The couple were crafting wines simply as a hobby. But as their winemaking developed, and they expanded their vineyard area from just 2 hectares, Tua Rita’s Bordeaux blends soon became world famous collectable wines.

Today, the thrilling trilogy of Redigaffi, Giusto di Notri and Perlato del Bosco are supported by the rare, blockbuster Syrah ‘Per Sempre’, made only in great vintages. These wines have come to define the region and are sought after year in, year out.

With the release of the 2015 vintage, Tua Rita is set to receive another jolt of stardom. The reason is simple: 2015 promises to be one of the greatest vintages ever, with outstanding wines across the board. James Suckling’s 96-97 review for Giusto di Notri is the first to appear; and you can expect more big numbers in the months ahead.

Allocations are always fiercely contested; these 2015s deserve your attention now while you have the chance.

Tua Rita’s unique “seaside Sangiovese” is an enchanting expression of the vineyard’s location, named after the beautiful pink marble (“the pearl of the wood”) on which it is grown.  Warm and elegant, the 2015 Perlato displays roses, lavender, sour cherry and hedgerow fruit. The velveteen tannins are balanced by a bright, refreshing acidity. There is a kiss of sweet, supple...
