Elisabetta Geppetti is the founder of Fattoria Le Pupille. Her name is synonymous with the Maremma region of Southern Tuscany, where Sangiovese is known as Morellino. Elisabetta took the reins of her family property in 1985, aged just 20 years old, and has been championing the region ever since. She was also the first woman appointed president of the local winemaking consortium in 1992. Under Elisabetta, Fattoria Le Pupille produced one of the earliest Super Tuscans with the single vineyard Saffredi, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with the release of the 2017 in November. Still at the helm today, she continues to be an innovative force in Italian wine: this year Elisabetta released an amphorae-aged Syrah, “Le Pupille”, made in collaboration with her eldest daughter Clara.
