One of the most famous Hospices holdings, the vines lie in the upper section of Mazis Chambertin, exactly level with the neighbouring Chambertin Clos de Bèze and the oldest vines (66% of the plot) date back to 1947. On the nose, the approachability of 2009 is immediately apparent with gorgeous bramble fruit in abundance. Spices lurk beneath, supporting the fruit...

TASTING NOTES

An extremely attractive, intense scent of liquorice lifts from the nose. This is a superb wine, packed full with succulent ripe, healthy fruit. It is complex and generous and very long on the palate. The vintage will allow relatively early drinking but this will undoubtedly develop tremendously well in the next decade and beyond.

TASTING NOTES

This opaque purple-colored, muscular, full-bodied, classically made St.-Julien displays impressive concentration, chewy, highly-extracted flavors of black fruits, iron, earth, and spicy wood, and a powerful mouth-feel. A pure, uncompromising, traditionally-styled wine, it is to be admired for its authenticity, class, and quality. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2035.Robert Parker Sccore 91 points

TASTING NOTES

The 2012, made from 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon, was the only wine made by d’Yquem in the vintage. The team picked and started to make a Sauternes but Garbay said ‘after the first tasting we decided the quality was not enough to make d’Yquem’. The Y grapes are picked before the Sauternes grapes with only a little botrytis...

TASTING NOTES

Plummy and damson fruit on the nose, with autumnal, smoky and meaty notes and again an intensity that underlines the quality. Rich curranty fruit, bacon, animal and spices on the palate and terrific persistance. A mineral backbone runs through the wine too. This is clearly a wine of its soil, very fine. In scale it is tight and compact at...
