Rich, leesy, mealy wine with notes of lemon and pink grapefuit, sherbet and a considerable sense of dimension here. Oak showing too but very well integrated with the zippy fruit. The finish reverberates, comes back time and again with another wave of flavour. Terrific wine. 83 Sem : 17 SB

"Paler than the 2017. Mid garnet and a suggestion of oak on the nose. The particularly ripe fruit slightly disguises the ultra-digestible, appetising nature of the carefully selected Sangiovese parcel that informs this wine. Chestnut notes and still quite a bit of tannin. Much sweeter than the 2017 with lower acidity. Still a good drink but perhaps less obviously Sangiovese....

A little less intense and concentrated that its younger brother, the 2008 showed a delicate finesse with a layered, savoury quality and a gentle balance of herbs and dark fruits. There is a warm quality that comes through from the sophisticated oak which lingers on the finish. Overall this is a lovely wine with a very attractive and elegant pedigree....

Gaja’s Costa Russi is usually the most aromatic and elegant of the three single vineyard wines with a finer structure.
