Tasting Notes

Single vineyard, old vine Sangiovese from poor soil makesfor the most concentrated and structured of the Estate¿sBrunellos. Quite austere in its youth, the depth of fruitand intensity is remarkable. This refined, elegant andconcentrated Brunello is just getting into its stride, withhallmark mineral and assam tea notes. Very long and refinedon the finish ¿ a great vintage and should develop furtherover the next 10 years.

Reviews & Scores

Bright dark red. Highly perfumed aromas of red berries, red cherry, flowers, minerals, gunflint, leather, graphite and spices. Suave, deeply spicy and penetrating, with terrific extract and intensity to the juicy, pure red berry flavors. This compelling Brunello offers a silky texture, superb intensity and captivating inner-mouth perfume, finishing with compelling sweetness of tannins and outstanding breadth and length. Suavissimo! (Incidentally, I very much enjoyed the Rennina bottling as well, with its aromas and flavors of raspberry, minerals and spices; ripe, harmonious acidity; and dry, firm-edged finish. After scoring this wine 92 points, I realized that it was the 2000 vintage that had been sent from Italy!) 95(+?) points

TASTING NOTES

The 2018 Giusto di Notri comes together with seamless beauty. This is a rich and generous expression that delivers dark fruit intensity with blackberry and black currant, wrapped tightly together with ample oak notes of spice, tar and cured tobacco. The wine offers smooth transition and rich textural fiber, with soft angles and contours that frame the wine's full-bodied approach.96...

The 2017 Cavaliere is 100% Sangiovese vinified in cement and aged in cask. Rich and dense in the glass, with terrific density and real presence, the 2017 packs plenty of punch. Dark fruit, scorched earth, licorice, lavender and cloves add to an impression of power and gravitas. 91 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
