Tasting Notes

The grapes for Finca el Otera are always sourced from the same plot from the oldest vineyard. The barrels are tasted and only the finest are selected for Finca el Otero, and the rest produce the Reserva. Lovely fruit concentration on the nose with rich, jammy fruit scents. Concentrated cassis and spice, with good grainy tannins. Very succulent, rich and powerful, with lingering notes of tobacco and vanilla on the finish.

ProducerÁster

In 1991, La Rioja Alta branched south into the barren plateau of Ribera del Duero. After intensive analysis, they settled on a plot in Anguix near Burgos, an area which Tim Atkin MW describes as the home of “most of the best wines” in Ribera del Duero. This Estate features vineyards at 700-800m above sea level, a state-of-the-art winery completed in 2000, and a solar farm to provide sustainable energy for the winery.
