Pure, cool and inviting, this is an awesome GPL. The nose opens with the essence of cassis before moving through to forest fruits and cedar spice. On the palate, the wine is lively, layered and succulent with plenty of intensity and fabulous length. This is an elegant and extremely fine Pauillac and a terrific result for Xavier Borie. Also highly rated by Jancis Robinson (18/20) and Neil Martin (94-96pts).
Reviews & Scores
(76% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot and 2% cabernet franc) Good medium ruby. Pure, high-pitched aromas of black fruits, violet and menthol, with herbal and minty nuances. Suave on entry, then sweet and bright in the middle, with nicely integrated acidity giving the wine a juicy character and very good definition. This is fine-grained but a bit lean, with moderate flesh to support its dusty tannins. Just a tad herbal on the end. But then this is classic cabernet-based wine from Pauillac. 89-91 points
