Tasting Notes

A charmer of a Pauillac, this is the softer, elegant expression of the appellation and shows what a gentle hand can achieve. Open, accessible, wild strawberry, cherry and red fruit coulis on the nose with floral notes and a fresh finish. Delicious wine. Drink from 2012. 16 points

Reviews & Scores

(75% cabernet sauvignon, 23% merlot and 2% cabernet franc) Deep ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and menthol, plus a suggestion of violet. Solid, dense and savory, with good vinosity. A bit herbal toward the back, finishing with chunky tannins and a note of bitter chocolate. This will need to absorb its slightly spiky acidity. 87-89 points

TASTING NOTES

74% Sauvignon Blanc, 26% Sémillon. Barrel sample. Fragrant and pure with pin-point precision. All in length and line. Floral, citrus aromas. Delicious fruit but again controlled, the finish pebble-sucking and saline. Atypical white Bordeaux. Could be burgundy – Puligny? JR
