Scores

"Good full medium red-ruby. Complex nose melds black raspberry, licorice, tobacco and hot rocks; there's a suggestion of almost candied ripeness here. Then ripe, sweet and full, with a lush texture and considerable density to the plum and cherry flavors. Very nicely balanced wine, finishing with excellent breadth and length. This will evolve more quickly than the 2006 or 2007 but has solid structure nonetheless."

91-94 points Stephen Tanzer

"Deep, plummy fruit on the nose, followed by a smooth and elegant attack with no sense of surge, just a gentle even pace with a build in intensity. On the palate, the distinctive crushed minerals, stones, liqueur and earthy notes of the Graves are there to be savoured. The wine is pure and reveals layers of flavour and wonderful complexity. With outstanding persistence and natural intensity, this continues to be one of the greatest wines in the world."

ProducerChâteau Haut Brion

Bought by Jean de Pontac in 1533 and passing through 4 different families before its purchase in 1935 by Clarence Dillon, Château Haut Brion has had one of the most celebrated histories of any château. Prince Robert of Luxembourg and his mother the Duchesse de Mouchy, president of Domaine Clarence Dillon, must be proud that 75 years later the family is still very much involved. 3rd generation Jean Philippe Delmas is in charge of the winemaking, ably assisted in continuing the excellence of Haut Brion wines by Jean-Philippe Masclef as maître de chai, and Pascal Baratié the vineyard manager.
