2007 Château Lafite Rothschild, 1er Cru Pauillac

Château Lafite, Bordeaux Wine Region, France

Bordeaux blend, Drinking Now 2030

Tasting Notes

Subtle cassis notes alongside floral perfumes point to an elegant Lafite with more finesse than power. The textures are very silky, with the tannins beautifully handled. Purity and classicism on the palate but certainly not exuberance, as today this is rather introverted. The wine flows easily in a rather lithe manner with excellent persistence on the finish. Not the usual density this year and certainly a mid-term Lafite in the vein of the delicious 1999. - 17.5 points

Reviews & Scores

(84% cabernet sauvignon, 15% merlot and 1% petit verdot) Good bright ruby. Cassis, minerals, licorice and mint lifted by spices on the nose. Moderately dense and fruit-driven, with lovely mouthcoating breadth to the dark berry, spice and fresh herb flavors; remains just this side of peppery. Best today on the subtle but very persistent finish, which features very fine-grained tannins, a restrained sweetness and a captivating vibrancy. Among the most suave and refined examples of the vintage. 90-93 points
