Tasting Notes

Damsons and forest fruits on the nose, on the palate this is dense, brooding and concentrated, with high tannins and a big sign up saying ?give me time!?. The muscular frame of La Mission is there but perhaps with less square shoulders this time. We also detect extra lift and polish this year giving it a little more elegance. As always, a fascinating contrast to its sibling. Drink 2020-2035+ (51CS :43M :6CF)

Reviews & Scores

Bright and perfumed, with mineral, hot stone, fresh currant and blackberry on the nose. Full-bodied, with firm, silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. Layered, chewy and structured. Solid for the vintage. - 91-94 points

A remarkably restrained wine in this vintage. Elegant aromas combine subtle red berry fruits with delicate mineral and savoury notes. On the palate, the tannins are firm, but refined, and the fruit, though sweet and ripe, is balanced by a very refreshing acidity with mineral notes on the finish. Over-all this is a very elegant wine. Drink 2019 - 2035
