Tasting Notes

This magnificently elegant and sumptuous Merlot is made from grapes grown on the finest vineyard sites on the estate. Complex aromas open gradually in the glass to reveal sweet dark cherry characters and notes of spices and exotic, wild herbs. The palate is wonderfully harmonious with superb depth of rich fruit, subtle tannins and a complex spicy note from ageing in barrel which adds depth and length. A mineral note on the finish gives great definition. This very rare, iconic and highly acclaimed wine will be delicious from release and it has the capacity to age for 20 years or more.

TASTING NOTES

The 2018 Mongrana, Querciabella's entry-level red, is fabulous. A burst of dark cherry, plum, spice, new leather and chocolate gives the 2018 so much immediacy and sheer appeal. Overall, this is a pretty restrained style for the Tuscan coast. There is so much to like here. 90 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
