Tasting Notes

The Bussia is characteristically the most densely structured of the Crus, and for this reason is also the vineyard that produces the Barolo Riserva. The soil of the Bussia vineyard is compact clay and limestone which contributes to the firm structure. As with all of Claudio?s wines, this structure is matched by an elegance of flavour and delicate perfume. While the tannins will benefit from a couple of years age, the concentration of the fruit and spice promises extremely enjoyable drinking over the next twenty years.

Reviews & Scores

From the historic heart of the famed Bussia vineyard area, this fantastic wine beautifully expresses the fabulous vintage. Boasting great depth and energy, it seamlessly delivers violet, incense, underbrush, crushed black cherry, licorice, graphite and balsamic sensations alongside vibrant acidity and big, velvety tannins. It?s a classic in the making. Drink 2020?2040.

TASTING NOTES

Deep nose of cherry with hints of dark spice and just a touch of malt and a hint of mint. Succulent cherry fruit with a touch of gingerbread and gorgeous, finely ground tannins that go on and on without demanding all the attention. Elegant rather than powerful, but skilfully executed.17+/20, Walter Speller MW, Jancisrobinson.com

TASTING NOTES

Reluctant nose with hints of raspberry fruit and savoury, malty spicy notes. With aeration increasingly perfumed. Elegant and almost vibrant fruit palate followed by bags of powdery tannins, but the fruit prevails. Same elegance and lightness of touch as the Castellero, but with a bigger tannic load and more depth.17/20, Walter Speller MW, Jancisrobinson.com
