Providence is one of the jewels in the JP Moueix estate and has received enormous investment over the last few years with exceptional results in 2010. The nose is elegant and restrained and full of pure red berry and plum fruits with dark chocolate notes and a hint of spice in the background. The palate is wonderfully refined with delicate, integrated tannins and deep plum and cassis fruits. A lively acidy runs through to the finish giving great freshness and energy, and on the finish there is a classic mineral note. An incredibly elegant wine but yields were down by 30% in 2010 - buy a case if you can! Drink 2020 - 2040
Reviews & Scores
Tasted at the offices of Ets J-P Moueix, the Providence has a very well defined bouquet that offers ripe red berry fruit: raspberry, kirsch, dark plum and a touch of graphite. It takes time to open, but it is worth the wait. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, succulent tannins. This Providence is one Pomerol that actually reminds me of the 2009 in terms of generosity. There is superb ripeness and focus on the finish, although the acidity cancels that out to leave it finely poised. This has great potential. Tasted November 2012.
