Scores

Tasted at the Union de Grand Cru in London and later at the chateau. The Lynch Bages 2010 has gone back into its shell since I tasted it out of barrel. It has very fine precision and comes across as understated and poised, although I hope it develops more vigour and fruit penetration. The palate is dense and focused, with light graphite notes infusing the black fruit and a keen thread of acidity lending it fine tension towards the finish. It just needs a little more attack, but that should develop with time. Tasted November 2012. Score: 93+ Neal Martin

Tasting Notes

An incredibly dense yet sophisticated wine which is packed full of rich flavours. Enticing red cherry and plum aromas are followed by layers of ripe blackcurrant and cassis fruit with notes of tobacco and exotic spices. Beautifully textured tannins blend seamlessly with the deep flavours and the fresh acidity. An outstanding success. Drink 2020 - 2038

ProducerChâteau Lynch Bages

Bought by Jean Charles Cazes on the eve of the second world war, at the same time as he purchased Ormes de Pez, Chateau Lynch Bages has had an interesting history. The estate has been run by the new generation Sylvie Cazes Regimbeau and Jean Charles Cazes since 2006.  A team look after the daily management of the vineyard and sustainable, environmentally-friendly policies are followed. In January 2010 Jean Michel Cazes received the 'Pionnier de l'Œnotourisme' prize, in recognition of the ongoing work to support the tourist trade and its positive impact on French wine-growing regions.
