Scores

Adventurous blend of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot. Half of the grapes come from the estate?s Maremma holding, the other from Greve-in-Chianti. Fermented by indigenous yeast in large oak cask and underwent MLF and ageing in barrique of which 20% was new for 16 months. After that the wine is racked off and aged for a further six months in cement tank. Mid crimson and just a little lacklustre. Hints of paprika, bramble fruit and oak polish. Distinct yet round. Elegant, succulent fruit with a pinch of drying tannins on the finish. Easy drinking yet classy. Great balance. (WS) 14% Score: 16.5 Points Walter Speller from Jancis Robinson

Tasting Notes

An intensely favoured and complex wine which combines the elegance of the Chianti region with the darker, more sumptuous flavours of the coastal Maremma vineyards. A bouquet of bright red cherries with deeper damson and blackberry fruit characters mingles with attractive violet and rose petal notes. The palate is multi-layered and richly flavoured with plenty of ripe forest fruit characters balanced by a refined structure and a lovely energetic freshness which runs through to the finish. Hints of spice and a mineral edge add complexity and gives excellent definition - This wine will be approachable from release but will mature well for the next five or more years.
