Scores

The 2011 Rosso di Montalcino wraps around the palate with sensual dark red fruit, spices, vanillin and dried flowers. Rich, round and sensual, Giancarlo Pacenti's 2011 Rosso makes a compelling case for itself as the wine of the vintage. This is a terrific Rosso built on exceptional balance and polish. I tasted the 2011 from tank just prior to its bottling. Score: 89-90 Points Antonio Galloni

Tasting Notes

An enveloping bouquet of sweet cherries with hints of lavender and savoury spice, is followed by a deliciously supple palate bursting with juicy, red cherry and wild spice characters, with delicate notes of strawberries and raspberries. This is a deliciously pure and very complex wine which will be perfect for drinking over the next five or so years. Drink 2013 ? 2018.

ProducerSiro Pacenti

This Tuscan wine estate was established in 1970 north of Montalcino by Siro Pacenti. Some of the vines planted by Siro Pacenti on the establishment of the vineyard are still there today, and some are still used for producing Siro Pacenti’s well-known wines. The grapes used to produce the famous Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino are grown in the clay soil, with breath-taking views of Siena.
